Essential Life Skills

Audacious Foundation supports in-school programming that helps children develop an array of important lifelong skills to prepare for adulthood.

“Why not go out on a limb? That's where the fruit is.”
-Rose Kennedy

Children need to develop real world skills to succeed in the real world. Many essential skills are not prioritized, or are non-existent within the status quo school curriculum. Parents may not have the time or resources to supplement these important areas of education at home. By providing educational programs in these essential life skills during the school day, we ensure that all students at our selected schools can benefit.

Financial Literacy

Seldom taught in school, the understanding of money is an essential life skill.

Our programming partners bring financial education into the classroom, and even assist students in opening their own savings account.

Financial Literacy Increases Independence

Understanding Finances Reduces Uncertainty

Financial Skills Are Needed As Every Stage of Life

Empowers Smart Financial Decisions

Students who learn to manage their finances early and often become adults who are better equipped to live independently.

Early education allows individuals to develop a healthy relationship with money.

When students can budget, save, borrow, and invest wisely, they are better equipped to reach their financial goals.

Learning the difference between wants and needs helps builds habits that shape how students will earn, save, and spend every day.

Arf! Reading

This innovative program helps reluctant readers improve their skills by reading to trained therapy dogs.

Reading Aloud Is The Foundation For Literacy Development

Reading aloud lets children regularly hear new words in new contexts and develops a stronger awareness of the possibilities of language.

Students look forward to the reading sessions because their dog friends listen calmly to every word without criticizing.

Students need to become proficient readers in the early grades in order for them to be successful in all school subjects, which helps them in all facets of their lives.

Studies have shown reading aloud is the single most important activity for reading success.

Arts & Culture

Early exposure to the arts is an important part of a well-rounded education. Our partners offer storytelling, dance, mindfulness, and drumming workshops to students at our Partnership Schools.

Immersing Children In Music Can Help Boost Their Brain Power

Arts Education Positively Effects Students' Creativity, Well-Being, and Academic Success

Exposure To The Arts Can Lead To Success Later In Life

Reading Aloud Is The Foundation For Literacy Development

Music stimulates the parts of the brain associated with academic achievement, such as reading and math, and emotional development.

The benefits of arts education include lower dropout rates and higher graduation rates, regardless of socio-economic status.

Students who are exposed to a wide variety of arts and crafts are more likely to create and patent inventions, start companies, or publish papers in science and technlogy.

Understanding movement, colors, and imagination can help students express their feelings, increasing confidence as well as creativity.

Partners We Support

The Audacious Foundation supports a small number of both public and parochial schools as well as out-of-school programs that serve low-income communities, mostly within Santa Barbara County. These schools are selected based upon leadership, and the Principal or leader’s alignment with a “whole child” learning philosophy.
